In 2022, Kawasaki presented Bex, a four-legged robot inspired by a goat or ibex. The machine could walk on four legs, move on wheels and even carry a person. Other research projects have also used goats and mountain animals as inspiration for robots designed to move across difficult terrain. And in 2026, China presented an all-terrain robot designed to move across challenging environments with movement inspired by a goat. The idea is becoming reality. But the interesting part is not the robot itself. The interesting part is what the robot makes us ask about ourselves.

Because the transformation is already happening. AI is becoming integrated into the systems around us, while robotics is giving machines a physical presence in the world. We do not know exactly where this leads. But we can examine the direction. The E-goat is not a prediction. It is a symbol of the increasingly digitalized human — increasingly dependent on technology, increasingly connected to machines, and potentially moving toward a world where technology becomes part of identity, decision-making and everyday existence.
